Introduction

In the field of floor materials, rigid vinyl flooring has been widely used in recent years as a product that combines functionality and practicality. It has good structural stability, waterproof performance and easy maintenance, and is suitable for residential and commercial spaces. In the actual application process, understanding its main installation methods and their related advantages and disadvantages is of practical significance for ensuring the paving effect and service life.

Overview of rigid vinyl flooring

Material definition

Rigid vinyl flooring (RVP) is a floor decoration material based on polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and composited through a multi-layer structure. Its core layer usually adopts stone plastic (SPC) or wood plastic (WPC) structure, which makes it have stronger dimensional stability and load-bearing capacity.

Product structure and performance basis

According to the common product layered structure, rigid vinyl flooring usually contains the following layers: UV wear-resistant layer, printed decorative layer, core stabilization layer and backing layer. The density of the core layer is usually between 1900–2100kg/m³, which is much higher than that of ordinary vinyl flooring, ensuring its compressive resistance. According to industry test standards (such as ASTM F3261), the dimensional change rate of qualified products after 24 hours of water immersion should be less than 0.25%, which indicates its dimensional stability in a humid environment.

1. Preparation before installation

Environmental condition check

The installation environment should maintain stable temperature and humidity. Common requirements are that the ambient temperature is between 18°C and 29°C, and the relative humidity is between 35% and 65%. Changes in environmental conditions directly affect the flexibility of the floor. If this step is ignored, problems such as warping and cracking may occur later.

Ground base treatment

The installation base should meet three conditions: dry, flat, and oil-free. The moisture content of the base should be less than 4.5%, and the ground flatness error should not exceed 2mm/2m. If the ground is uneven, self-leveling cement can be used for leveling. Base treatment is a key step to ensure the lock connection is tight, avoid abnormal noise and structural deformation.

2. Installation methods and steps

There are two mainstream installation methods for hard vinyl flooring: suspended lock installation and full glue bonding installation.

Lock installation method

This method relies on the lock structure of the floor itself to achieve splicing, and is commonly used for SPC floors. No glue is required during the installation process, the construction efficiency is high, and it can be disassembled and replaced when necessary. Its core technology lies in the accuracy of the lock groove design, and the edge tolerance is generally required to be less than 0.05mm to ensure the tightness of the joints. This method is suitable for areas with good ground stability and little change in temperature and humidity in the space.

Glue installation method

This method requires evenly applying special floor glue on the base layer, and compacting it after laying the floor. It is suitable for places with dense traffic or high requirements for floor stability. Its advantage is that it can achieve a stronger bonding effect and reduce the displacement of the board caused by thermal expansion and contraction. This method requires high construction experience, and it takes a certain amount of time to solidify after paving.

Auxiliary installation steps

a. Measurement and planning: Reasonably plan the paving direction according to the spatial structure. It is common to lay along the light or along the wall, which helps the visual extension effect.

b. Cutting and adjustment: Use a push knife or electric saw to cut the floor, and the edges should be kept flat.

c. Edge treatment: After paving, use skirting or edge strips for decoration, which can hide the expansion joints and enhance the overall visual effect.

3. Common problems and solutions

Increase in floor gaps: It may be due to the incomplete engagement of the lock or the uneven ground. It needs to be disassembled and corrected.

Warping of board edges: In most cases, it is caused by abnormal environmental humidity. The cause should be found out and the indoor humidity should be adjusted. In severe cases, the material needs to be replaced.

Abnormal noise: It is often caused by impurities in the ground, loose locks or loose base layers. It should be partially dismantled and re-paved after inspection.

Advantages of rigid vinyl flooring

Rigid Vinyl Plank

Strong dimensional stability

Rigid vinyl flooring has high core material density, tight structure and strong bending resistance. According to ISO 24337 standard, the warpage of the board should not exceed 0.15%, and qualified products can maintain stable shape in thermal expansion and contraction environment.

Lvp Flooring Installation

Good waterproof ability

Since PVC itself is a non-absorbent material, combined with multi-layer structure packaging, the floor has full waterproof performance. According to EN 13501-1 standard test, the product will not bulge or foam when immersed in water, and is suitable for humid areas such as kitchens and bathrooms.

Customer Pattern Vinyl Flooring

Easy installation and simple maintenance

The lock splicing structure does not require the use of glue, the construction period is short, and the labor cost is reduced. The surface treatment of the floor is resistant to pollution, and daily maintenance only requires wiping with a damp cloth, without the need for chemical cleaners.

Appearance Diversity

The printing layer can simulate a variety of material effects, including wood grain, stone grain, cement grain, etc. through high-definition pattern printing technology, which is suitable for a variety of decorative styles. Its pattern resolution can reach more than 720dpi, presenting realistic details.

Waterproof Luxury Vinyl Plank

Long service life

In daily home or medium commercial environments, the service life of hard vinyl flooring is usually more than 10 years. According to the Taber wear test, high-quality products can reach more than 6,000 revolutions, which is better than ordinary vinyl materials.

Stone Plastic Composite

Environmental protection of materials

Compliant products do not add phthalate plasticizers during the production process, and comply with environmental certification standards such as RoHS and REACH. Its formaldehyde emission is much lower than 0.05mg/m³, meeting the needs of indoor environmental protection use.
